What is SoftChalk Create?


SoftChalk_Logo UTSA’s Department of Online Learning has purchased SoftChalk Create (Desktop Version 9) which is an application that will allow you to quickly build course content - or transform existing course materials into interactive and engaging e-learning content with minimal time, effort and resources. You will be able to build, customize and personalize content by “mashing up” your own materials with rich media (video, audio, images) interactive activities, quizzes and text that you can search for within the application (Sample Lessons). This combination of personalized content, embedded assessment, interactivity, and immediate student feedback increases student engagement and improves learning outcomes. Once you have created your content, it is easy to add it directly into a specific course or courses in Blackboard Learn. It is easy to share your content between courses or with other instructors as the content is completely portable.
You can create graded assessments with many types of questions: true/false, multiple choice, multiple answer, short answer, matching, ordering and essay. SoftChalk Create quiz questions can also be imported and exported from Respondus™ and Blackboard™ quiz pool formats. The grades from your quizzes will be seamlessly added to your Learn Grade Center. You can give your learners a rich, interactive experience by adding SoftChalk Create activities to your lesson. Creating an activity that is customized with your content takes only minutes. Where can I get SoftChalk?

UTSA has site-licensed Soft Chalk Create 9. The software will be supported by Online Learning, and is available to all faculty, staff, and teaching assistants. To install SoftChalk on your computer go to the SoftChalk distribution site at UTSA. Install SoftChalk Create on your PC or MAC

To install the software, you need to have administrator rights on your computer. If you don't, call OIT Connect at 210-458-5555 or send them an email.

To get the access code you will need to:

  1. Go to the SoftChalk Distribution site at UTSA
  2. Enter your myUTSA ID and passphrase
  3. Click on the folders for Windows or Macintosh installation.
  4. Click to download the SoftChalk9_setup.exe or SoftChalk9-Mac.zip installation files.
  5. Click to download SoftChalk License.txt and SoftChalkCreateInstallation.pdf files.

Please note that our SoftChalk license agreement does not include SoftChalk Cloud.
